Io is the primordial deity of dragonkind—both the source and the sum of all draconic existence. He is said to have existed before the gods had names, born in the first breath of the cosmos, his scales glinting with every color of dragonkind: chromatic, metallic, and beyond. From his essence were born Bahamut and Tiamat—representing his duality, his order and chaos, his justice and fury.

Io is neither good nor evil, lawful nor chaotic. He represents the balance of all extremes, the breath that unites opposites, and the flame of creation that never dies. He is a god of paradoxes: a protector of life who permits destruction, a weaver of fate who rejects control. Worship of Io is rare among mortals, but not unheard of—some scholars, dragonborn, and contemplative dragons honor him as the divine totality of dragonkind.

His followers often seek unity, cosmic understanding, or a reconciliation of dual forces. Others worship him in reverent fear, knowing that within him lies the potential to unmake what has been made, just as he once created all things.

Followers of Io rarely form formal churches, but monks, sages, dragonkin, and rare dragonborn paladins may swear themselves to his path. His tenets are not commandments, but contemplations—mysteries to ponder and strive to embody:

Do not tip the cosmic scale without knowing what lies on the other end. Strive not for victory, but for harmony.

Build with one hand, and know how to unmake with the other. Only those who understand both can wield true power responsibly.

Truth is a many-headed thing. Hold contradiction in your heart without fear, for only fools demand simplicity.
