Disembarking from the Azmar Express in the misty harbor town of Oar’s Rest, the party reunited with Duke Ondor Sev, who agreed to join them in their fight against the Chardalyn dragon. But before they could take on that threat, they followed a more urgent lead—the trail of the undead cargo once intended for delivery in Charmed Cove.
Taking a riverboat downstream, the party encountered a raging water elemental and barely survived a harrowing plunge toward a massive waterfall. Battered but alive, they reached Charmed Cove and followed Leo Di Salvatore’s tip: the wand and undead delivery had been meant for a drop-off point beneath the city—in the sewers below the Raven Queen’s forgotten temple.
Descending into the depths, the group was beset by undead horrors. Saratauc contracted a vile illness known as the Rot, a degenerative and deadly affliction. Pressing on despite his worsening condition, the party reached the temple’s heart—literally. There, they found the necromantic runescriber Wix, now undead, communing with a massive beating heart entwined in black veins that spread through the walls—a vessel of Orcus, Demon Lord of Undeath.
In a brutal confrontation, the gang fought off hordes of undead while trying to stop Wix. The necromancer managed to teleport away mid-battle, but not before his ritual was interrupted. Acting swiftly, Zakier unleashed divine wrath and smote the heart of Orcus, destroying the vile organ and silencing its influence within the temple.
In the aftermath, Oni Sev, bound by his oath as a Ravenknight, chose to break from the party. Determined to uphold his sacred duty and knowing Wix still lived, he set off alone to pursue the necromancer—no matter where the trail might lead.
With Oni gone and Saratauc growing weaker by the hour, the remaining party members set their course for the College of Ioun, desperate to find a cure for the Rot… before it consumed him completely.
