Nerull is the god of death, darkness, murder, and the underworld. He is known as the Reaper, the Foe of All Good, the Hater of Life, and the Bringer of Darkness.

Where most deities of death revere the cycle of life and rebirth, Nerull craves the end. He is not content to collect the dead—he covets them. The grave is not a resting place, but a throne room for his power.

Clerics of Nerull are rare, as open worship is outlawed in most civilized lands. His cultists operate in shadows—leading death cults, raising undead armies, or offering sacrifices to empower their master. His clerics often invoke him during last rites twisted into curses or offer prayers over plague-stricken villages and battlefields.

To his followers, death is not a tragedy—it is a gift Nerull alone has the right to give or revoke.

During the Dawn War, Nerull introduced Necromancy to the world. Despite protests from the other Gods, he entrusted his angel, Sindatari, with the secret, who then passed it to Vecna, a mortal at the time. Vecna used this forbidden magic to raise the dead, creating an undead army to aid the Gods in their war.

Horrified by this defiance of the natural order, the Gods banished Nerull to the Shadowfell, sentencing him and Sindatari to eternal exile. Stripped of his place in the Compact of Heaven, Nerull became an outcast, his legacy forever tied to the dark art of Necromancy.

He believes that:

All things wither. All kingdoms fall. In the end, even the gods shall kneel to the scythe. To serve Death is to serve truth.

Do not simply bury your enemies—obliterate them. Erase their names, their legacy, their memory. Oblivion is the truest death.

Hope, love, joy—these are sparks that delay the inevitable. Snuff them out. Where there is light, cast your shadow.
